Jeff’s World

Jeff Seidenfaden is The Pet Guy. Jeff’s fascination with animals began during childhood and fortunately, his parents and neighbors supported his aspiration to meet and play with every pet in the neighborhood.

In 1987, Jeff began working at a Louisville, Kentucky, pet store and became immediately hooked on animals. Six years later, he opened his own store, Enviro Pet. Jeff’s desire to make an impact on the pet world led to his refusal to sell puppies and kittens bred for profit, instead opting to use the business as a satellite adoption center for the Kentucky Humane Society. Enviro Pet specialized in holistic and natural approaches to pet care, including a dedication to environmental protection by selling only birds and fish that were bred in captivity. Altogether, Enviro Pet placed over 6,000 homeless dogs and cats during its seven years in business.

Jeff’s media exposure has been extensive. He served as creator and host of The Pet Guy, a weekly Louisville-area television show focused on living with and caring for pets as well as hosting Creature Feature, a weekly pet-oriented call-in radio show. Guests included veterinarians, trainers and various pet experts. Jeff currently operates as a spokesperson for the Pet of the Week segments on WDJX and WXMA. Currently, Jeff serves on the board of directors for a low-cost spay and neuter clinic in Indianapolis as well as a coalition of animal welfare organizations in Louisville.

Although he presently shares his house with only two rescued dogs, Max and Trooper—both shepherd mixes—and a tank of freshwater fish, Jeff’s menagerie throughout the years has included cats, birds, lizards, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, and even a praying mantis.
